  • 'Goli maaro' slogan at Delhi rally

    At a BJP rally in Rithala, Delhi on 27 January 2020, Thakur chanted 'desh ke gaddaron ko', to which the crowd responded 'goli maaro saalon ko', which he encouraged. The Election Commission removed him from the BJP star campaigners list and imposed a 72-hour campaign ban.

  • Supreme Court removal from BCCI presidency + contempt notice

    HIGH · ALLEGED

    The Supreme Court removed Thakur as BCCI President in January 2017 for defying Lodha Committee governance reforms, and issued a show-cause notice for contempt and perjury over an allegedly misleading affidavit regarding ICC correspondence. Thakur tendered an unconditional apology in July 2017 and the court dropped the proceedings.
